Welcome to the 20th (!) edition of the antifragile 4 π₯.
Itβs a weekly 4-item newsletter from The Antifragile Dad created to inspire dads to use the challenges of fatherhood as fuel for building an incredible life & an antifragile mind. Some weeks will have a theme, others will meander. Expect it every Friday.
Hereβs this weekβs antifragile 4 π₯:
a thought-provoking commencement π from the creator of Calvin & Hobbes
a World Series moment βΎοΈ showing the magic of a father/son baseball life
a hypothesis π² about our innate need to be in nature
a clip of Saquon Barkley π being the kind of person we want our kids to be.
β
1.) a thought-provoking commencement π from the creator of Calvin & Hobbes.
To quote the post where I discovered this gem:
I just found out that Bill Watterson (the genius behind Calvin and Hobbes) gave a commencement speech in 1990 and it's incredible.
Iβd recommend reading the entire speech. Itβs funny, deep & thought-provoking. But if you donβt have time, this is enough:
2.) a World Series moment βΎοΈ showing the magic of a father/son baseball life.
3.) a hypothesis π² about our innate need to be in nature.
The biophilia hypothesis.
β¦is the idea that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life.
The modern world perpetually deprives us of immersion in the natural world. And yet this hypothesis argues that we need that connection to truly feel fulfilled.
I feel this one in my bonesβ¦but donβt prioritize it. Perhaps putting a name to it will help.
How can you connect with nature more regularly? Even in small ways?
4.) a clip of Saquon Barkley π being the kind of person we want our kids to be.
Here.
What a mensch.

Two last things for you this week:
Be curious. Not judgmental.
Be fire and wish for the wind π₯
With love,
Chris
