🔥 on following your energy
#61: a weekly newsletter created to inspire dads to use the challenges of fatherhood as fuel for building an incredible life & an antifragile mind.
Welcome to the 61st edition of this newsletter. This week we’re taking a break from the antifragile 4 🔥 format.
Instead, I want to talk about energy—something I’ve been paying more attention to lately, thanks in part to Scott Adams.
The energy I have for a task is more important to the outcome than the amount of time I have allocated to do it. I can produce more in fifteen minutes with the right energy than four hours with the wrong energy.
Scott Adams, Reframe Your Brain
This week, all of mine pointed toward business. So I ran with it.
I was a great dad (as always) and a good husband (please don’t confirm with my wife), but every ounce of energetic juice I had went into work.
The result? An extreme level of fulfillment with some unexpectedly cool outcomes (one of which: hiring three new people).
The cost? Pretty much everything else.
Sleep, I kept around. But fitness, writing, reading, social life, and this newsletter all took a backseat.
In a previous life, I would have felt guilty about that. But for this week at least, I embraced it with open arms.
As similar as they can feel (especially with kids), no two weeks are the same. Each has it’s own flavor. It’s own clues. And I’m enjoying being more open with the direction my energy seems to be leading me.
Here’s to next week being another interesting one.
Question to ponder: Where might your energy lead you if you let it?
With love,
Chris

Two last things for you this week:
Pay attention to where you might be fighting your energy. If you don’t like what you find, experiment with following instead of fighting. Curiosity over resistance.
Be fire and wish for the wind 🔥
With love,
Chris
